CULJP Digital Discussions: Teaching Law & Society
The Consortium is excited to launch a new Digital Discussions workshop series in 2023 on teaching law and society. Each live webinar features several scholars discussing specific strategies for teaching undergraduate courses on interdisciplinary topics relating to law, power, and culture in both US and international contexts. The moderated discussion is followed by a Q&A session with the audience and then archived on YouTube for later viewing.
We hope to offer Digital Discussions on timely topics such as crimmigration law and policy; legal mobilizations for human rights; and climate change and environmental justice as well as enduring topics such as social movements for social change; law, pluralism, and legal anthropology; law and society through film; and introduction to law and society.
The CULJP Digital Discussions committee is chaired by Haley Duschinski <[email protected]>. Please reach out if you would like to participate in a future discussion!

Workshop Summary: The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization (2022) sent a shockwave through the nation. By overruling Roe v. This teaching workshop focuses on teaching undergraduate classes focused on judicial power, reproductive autonomy and reproductive justice, with special attention to the role of courts in society. We invite audience members to share their own teaching experiences in the discussion.
